Domino’s proves why Restaurants must monitor their brand and reputation online

It was a Restaurateur’s worst nightmare. In the span of a few minutes of video posted to YouTube, a 50 year old brand was brought low. Two (fired and facing felony charges) employees of a franchise location of Domino’s Pizza recorded a video of themselves doing horrendous and disgusting things to food that was potentially about to be served to an unsuspecting customer. The video went viral. The YouTube video reached one million views in less than 3 days.

Pub-deli Seizes Speciality Food Opportunity

A 75% increase in sales of local products, over the last four years, has convinced the owners of a deli-pub in north Yorkshire that there is real profit to be made from stocking speciality foods. “We held our first Farmers' Market last year and forecast a two percent increase in the number of people attending the second one this July,” said Ashley McCarthy, owner of Ye Old Sun pub. “It's a small percentage but in this climate it's also a very welcome one,” he added.

Brand power still carries more weight

Brand remains more persuasive than price for food and beverages European consumers are universally drawn to brands when purchasing alcoholic beverages but the brand vs price battle is a lot closer when it comes to food and non-alcoholic beverages, according to a nine-country European survey on consumer brand and price awareness carried out by the GfK Association.
