‘Brand-lag’ – time difference between what customers want and what they can buy.
‘Zag’ had been created to create a rapid reaction business to fulfill this gap.

This article demonstrates a couple of points:
* Businesses that cooperate can react to opportunities more rapidly than individuals businesses.
* By concentrating on customers changing tastes, outsourcing manufacturing to a ‘partner’ business, creates a higher level of flexibility and therefore innovation.

This is a water bottle that makes a lifestyle statement! ‘I drink water, I am healthy – but I am part of something.’
This is a tribal statement that is very desirable to their target market.

Mini Wal-Mart & WAITROSE – the world of shrinking retail formats

WELCOME TO THE SHRINKING WORLD OF RETAILERS:
If you ever have the ‘pleasure’ of going to a full sized Wal-Mart in USA, you will experience a scale of retailing that is not recognisable to many normal consumers.
One guy said to me while I was visiting one of these stores, ‘if you forget to get something, just forget it!’ The idea of having to reverse and negotiate to isle number ‘whatever’ is too hideous a task.

It seems that the ever expanding retail format is over – two retailers either side of the pond have just announced small format alternatives to their existing store offers.

New Dallas restaurant concept leads the way by thinking for their customers individual needs:

Dallas chef Stephan Pyles plans to open a new restaurant called Samar by Stephan Pyles next spring at the 2100 Ross Ave. office building in downtown Dallas.

The new restaurant will feature an international tapas menu and indoor and outdoor seating for 95 people. CB Richard Ellis, which handles leasing at 2100 Ross Ave. announced the plans on Thursday.
